Hawai'i, day 2: My first grocery shopping as my own adult

My first grocery shopping as my own adult

I got a membership and I saved $21.57

I found myself drawn to the foods of my childhood

Eggo waffles, stouffer’s lasagna, Kraft mac and cheese

Rice a roni

I bought more cheese than I ever have in my life

Probably so the frig (as they spell it here) will feel like my mother’s

Goat cheese with honey, sliced mozzarella, extra sharp white cheddar

Whole milk, lactose-free with my newfound knowledge about my organs’ preferences

I tried to anticipate the cravings I know I'll have later

Haagen Dazs chocolate ice cream, movie style popcorn

And a few Hawaiian treats

Guava shortbread, passion fruit guava juice, guava jam

Maybe just guava treats

I froze my ravioli because it won’t fit on the shelf in the frig designated for my bedroom

I froze my bread too

And the fruit is in the frig to keep away the flies

Keeping the batteries company

René keeps the batteries in the frig too

My first home-cooked meal was very gourmet:

Rana tortellini and microwaved frozen broccoli

But I am happy with it, and that is enough

I have been thinking about enough.

What is enough?

Enough money, enough snacks? Enough money for snacks?

Enough time? Enough people to spend up time with? If you have neither is it still enough?

I don’t think so, that just sounded interesting.

I’m going back for more tortellini. Wind-down is in 20 minutes, 9pm.
