Here we are in Japan

The first few days have been really quite smooth, with highlights including a recorded water sound playing immediately next to me as I peed in the Tokyo airport.

Ate some foods not knowing what they were (tuna onigiri???)

Intercultural exchange

And saw Fuji-san from the plane!!!

I was really happy about that.

Not Fuji-san but still pretty

Got picked up in a fancy car thanks to Granddude's travel agent and the driver was super nice and I spoke a tinnyyyyy bit of Japanese with him. Once I got to the hotel it was fully dark and I was ready to crash (7pm) but luckily ran into Isaac, Chloe, and Kayson on their way out to dinner. We had some delishious food including this fried corn and shrimp situation. Love. Also - chicken in yuzu sauce, pork omelette (not my fav), and soba to fill up at the end. This was a tiny little place we found on a random side street and the owner almost turned us away I think but I'm glad she didn't.

Hit the conbini ("convenience" aka 7-11) on the way home and then put on these hotel-provided pajamas to sleep

Until 4am when I woke up again! At 5:45 the sun had risen (what!!!) so I permissed myself to go out on a run by the Kyoto Imperial Palace and the Kamogawa river. Very beautiful and quiet and I listened to this Moth story.

I stumbled upon these bird watchers that were all very quiet but I didn't see any birds.

Then this nice Japanese breakfast with highlights being the red pickled plum which was one of the best things ever and the miso soup. Also the nori which is in the package next to the spoon with the rice.

Walked around awhile then blah blah we went very far away to eat lunch for some reason and then bought "essential items." Unpacked - room tour to come. And another delicious dinner of yakitori skewers (tori meaning bird aka chicken, yaki meaning cooked over direct heat aka chicken skewers but also other skewers like shishito peppers). We'll see how long this blog lasts cos in Argentina I made one post and that was it but it's fun for now so here we are. Like comment subscribe. Hopefully the humor in this comes out otherwise it'll just seem like I wrote it when I was tired which is also true so there's nothing wrong with that.
