Hawaiʻi Day 65: Some Good Things

I just finished writing my final feedback form on my internship in Honolulu. As many of you may or may not know (or, I suppose, all of you do or do not know, either way), my time in Honolulu has not been the greatest two months of my life. But I will not go into that here. No need to dwell on the negative on the internet for all to see!!! At least, I don’t feel like doing that now. I'll just leave it at this:  When you think of  Hawaiʻi: When I think of  Hawaiʻi: I want to write a post sharing Some Good Things from my time here, ending my last week in Hawaiʻi on a good note and with gratitude. Here are Some Good Things: My roommates. Turned out to be pretty lovely people. I went to the beach with Amy (roommate) and Claire (supervisor) this past weekend. Hawai'i, day 2: My first grocery shopping as my own adult

  My first grocery shopping as my own adult I got a membership and I saved $21.57 I found myself drawn to the foods of my childhood Eggo waffles, stouffer’s lasagna, Kraft mac and cheese Rice a roni I bought more cheese than I ever have in my life Probably so the frig (as they spell it here) will feel like my mother’s   Goat cheese with honey, sliced mozzarella, extra sharp white cheddar Whole milk, lactose-free with my newfound knowledge about my organs’ preferences I tried to anticipate the cravings I know I'll have later Haagen Dazs chocolate ice cream, movie style popcorn And a few Hawaiian treats Guava shortbread, passion fruit guava juice, guava jam Maybe just guava treats I froze my ravioli because it won’t fit on the shelf in the frig designated for my bedroom I froze my bread too And the fruit is in the frig to keep away the flies Keeping the batteries company René keeps the batteries in the frig too My first home-cooked meal was very gourmet: Rana tortellini and micr...

Farewell to Japan :')

Last post since I am now home ;,) I was very sad to leave but grateful to have made such nice memories and met so many wonderful people. This is a bit of a fat post so please enjoy a cookie while you peruse Starting from Nov 21, had a nice burrito picnic by the river with my new friends Louis and Aki This is just nice of some cohort folk and Liliko Elevator I dunno Walking by the river Yes they have pizza in Japan And I did this really beautiful hike! Starting at Kokusaikaikan subway station and walking up to the peak of Mt Hiei and then over the top all the way to  Lake Biwa! It ended up being like 11 miles I think We had our final wrapup session for the Zazen class and Matsuyama sensei told me I had the best posture in the class for sutra copying so I was very proud of that Zazen class in the pretty garden fish friends Then I took a little trip to see Mount Fuji!
